***Adult content***

When I first got the idea for this post it was as a one shot if you will. I was going to list a bunch of my favorite sentences from different books that I have mad love for…So what happened?!? Well…I started going thru my Kindle version of Gabriel’s Inferno by Sylvain Reynard and putting them in a draft…and um… before I knew it I had an entire post, and I wasn’t even a third of the way thru the book yet. So then I had to decide whether I was gonna start eliminating some of them to add in sentences from  other books…  EEEP!…I just couldn’t do it.

Instead, I’ve decided to feature what I think are the best of the best sentences one favorite book at a time. For now I’ll post them on most of the Saturdays when Morgan isn’t here. Sexy Sentence Saturday… has a nice ring to it eh? Now I gotta be honest with you…not all of the sentences are really what I would call sexy. Hmmm… I guess I could’ve gone with… Satisfying Sentence Saturday… but that just doesn’t have quite the same appeal does it? Lemme know what you guys think…if you’ve got a better title to suggest I’m all ears…actually I have very nicely proportioned ears…

Some of these have been featured in a previous post, altho usually as entire passages not just single sentences…erm…yeah ok…some of them in more than one post. However, they are featured again for these reasons.

1) Lots of peeps get here via search engines- they type in things like- Gabriel’s Inferno quotes, Gabriel’s Inferno passages, etc. and up pops Bookish…SEE

2) There’s lots of new peeps joining us that haven’t been here for those other posts (feel free to check out the archives btw)

3) Well duh…they’re my faves ;)

Here’s my original intro btw-

I love it when I’m zooming along thru a book and BAM! an author will stun me with a simple sentence. It might be funny, witty, or clever. Perhaps it’s a thought provoking line that stops me cold. Sometimes it’s sensual/romantic/erotic, and often times it’s a descriptive sentence that just blows me away. It might be hidden in a paragraph or it might be stand alone, but it catches my eye, and I reread it, I highlight it in my Kindle, I um…dog ear the page…shhh…don’t tell on me, and  I’ve even been known to add them to a special notebook I keep just for that purpose. Only the best of the best go in that.

Still not sure why I’m doing single sentences instead of whole passages?  Sometimes we forget how important they can be. We focus so much on the whole that we lose sight of the parts…you understand what I mean by that right?!? When an author is able to grab my attention with a single sentence that makes me pause long enuff to read it over again because it’s so damn good? That my friends is pure unadulterated talent, and I want to celebrate it!

One last thing before y’all dive in…this post covers only the first 20% of the book. Dood! I know!  Blame SR for writing so many sentences I floved, and besides, it gives you something to look forward to… in the future…

Julia had been evicted from the realm of the surprised and relocated right into the land of the astonished.

He noticed the water that was continuing to stream off her, then he began to notice the clothes that were under the water, and then he began to notice what was under the clothes, because it was cold…and he hastily and somewhat huskily suggested that she forego making tea in order to dry herself.

He blinked at her like a Christmas tree, somehow having a difficult time registering the fact that she had clearly been crying in between his departure and his return.

If it had been Miss Peterson who he’d picked up, she probably would have leaned over and undone his zipper with her teeth while he was driving.

Meanwhile, Mr. Emerson had been adjusting himself under the table because the sight of Miss Mitchell tasting wine was the most erotic thing he’d ever witnessed.

“You blossom under kindness, don’t you? Like a rose.”

To kiss her senseless, move his lips to her neck, and claim her.

He needed to go home, lie down, and breathe until he calmed the fuck down.

His kiss was passionate and full of emotion, as if every fiber of his being had melted and spread itself on his lips only to be given to her.

He pulled her closer, snaking his arm beneath her neck and down to her waist where he splayed his hand, fingers wide,at the small of her back.

He gently rolled her onto her back and placed his hands on either side of her hips, hovering over her-eyes wide-staring longingly and intensely down into her very soul.

Angelfucker, thought Gabriel.

Not merely cool, like a breeze, or water from a stream in the autumn, but cold.

I want her petals to open,” Gabriel breathed softly.

Usually a woman wearing four-inch heels and long blond hair, who would scratch long fingernails down his back while screaming his name, over and over again…

He was paving hell with energy-buying an indulgence, forgiveness for a sin.

For baiser in French could mean either the innocence of a kiss or the animalistic quality of a fuck.

“Gabriel, that woman is totally eye-fucking you! What the hell?”

He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, hoping the movement would successfully dislodge his advancing arousal from its current trap.

He sounded like sex.

He smelled of Laphroaig and something distinctively Gabrielian and potentially dangerous.

His eyes hardened into two icy blue jewels, and his voice cooled to the temperature of water gliding over a glacier.

They both inhaled deeply, drinking in one another’s scent.

Le satisfied sigh! I’ve got goosebumps over here peeps…and that’s where we’re going to stop for now. I thought about adding some commentary after some of them, but I decided that it kinda took away from the full impact…so I didn’t. I would be happy to discuss any or all with you in the comments. I know some of u are asking “Hey Tamie, are you going to post more GI sentences next Saturday?!?” Nope, I’m going to wait a few weeks. Did some of you just call me a tease?!? Sorry…I know… it’s kinda like waiting on a certain sequel ;)

Next week I’ll post sentences from Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James.
